Abstract

Program SekolahPenggerak is an education program that aims to transform the world of education for the better. Its implementation involves the important role of the local government. One of the regions trusted to implement this program is Bandung City. Thus, this research discusses the role of the Bandung City Government in the implementation of Program SekolahPenggerak. This study aims to analyze the role of the Bandung City Local Government during the implementation of the Program SekolahPenggerak in Bandung City. The indicators used in analyzing the role of local government are seen from the role as regulator, facilitator, catalyst, stabilizer, and innovator.
This research uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. Data collection used structured interview techniques and documentation techniques. As supporting data, this research uses literature studies. The data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.
The results of this research explain that the role of the Bandung City Government in the implementation of the Program SekolahPenggerak in Bandung City is less than optimal. This is indicated by not carrying out the role as a regulator, not optimizing the role as a facilitator and catalyst, and not carrying out the role as an innovator. The factors causing the less than optimal role of the Bandung City Government are the lack of understanding of national regulations, poor communication between local governments and schools, and the absence of more efforts from the local government in the implementation of the program.
The Bandung City Government should comprehensively understand the regulations governing a policy so that the resulting role can be optimized. Then, it can improve communication with schools so that they can easily listen to aspirations in order to alleviate and optimize performance. Finally, it is expected to always innovate in managing the world of education so that many new things are created that are good.
