Abstract

This study aims to find out how William Adiguna's creative process in making the
short film Please Be Quiet. The research theory used is the theory of expressive
approaches, the literary sociology, the sociology of art, and the creative process.
Data collection methods used are interviews and literature. Primary data was
obtained through online interviews with informants William Adiguna as the
director and screenwriter. Secondary data was obtained through various social
media, books, journals, articles and final assignments relevant to this research. The
research method that the writer uses is the sociology of literature, specifically the
sociology of art with an expressive approach to examine William Adiguna's creative
process in making the short film Please Be Quiet.
The short film Please Be Quiet raises the issue of sexual harassment that
occurs in an office environment. In the film, the victim is forced to remain silent to
defend his job. The research entitled "William Adiguna's Creative Process in
Making the Short Film Please Be Quiet (Study of Sociological Literature)" provides
several conclusions that the influential factors in William Adiguna's writing were
self-motivation and a long-standing penchant for reading. William Adiguna's
motivation was in the form of a desire to make a film with the theme of sexual
harassment, the experiences of fellow apprentices, idol figures, and research.
William Adiguna's creative process went through five stages, namely inspiration,
incubation, preparation, writing, and finally revision. Then the form of the creative
process in the selection of themes, characters, and settings is the background of
William Adiguna's writing.
