Alfiati, Putri. 2022. “The Inner Conflict of Emiya Kiritsugu in the Anime Fate/Zero
by Urobuchi Gen (A Study of Literary Psychology)”. Thesis, Department of Japanese
Language and Culture, Diponegoro University Semarang. Supervisor Nur Hastuti,
S.S., M.Hum.
This research examines the inner conflicts of Emiya Kiritsugu in the anime
Fate/Zero, including type 1, type 2 and type 3 conflicts. This research uses the
material object in the form of the anime Fate/Zero which was released on 2011. The
formal object is the inner conflicts of Emiya Kiritsugu. This type of research is a
literature study. The method of this research is literary psychology method. This
research is supported by two theories, namely the theory of film narrative elements
by Himawan Pratista and conflict theory by Kurt Lewin.
This research describes the narrative elements of the anime Fate/Zero in the
form of three-act structure, narrative connection with space, narrative connection
with time, and story information restriction. This research also describes the
conflicts experienced by Emiya Kiritsugu. Based on the analysis, the conflicts
experienced by Emiya Kiritsugu are dominated by type 1 conflicts.
