Abstract

Pengalaman informasi merupakan sebuah perspektif yang kompleks dan multidimensional yang melihat keterkaitan manusia dengan informasi dalam dunia nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menjelaskan pengalaman yang didapatkan oleh penyandang disabilitas netra di komunitas Braille’iant Indonesia pada pemanfaatan audiobook sebagai sumber informasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dan teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah wawancara semi terstruktur dan observasi. Informan didapatkan melalui purposive sampling dan didapatkan empat orang informan yang merupakan anggota komunitas Braillei’ant Indonesia. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisa data yang telah terkumpul adalah thematic analisys. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa ditemukan empat tema yang berkaitan dengan pengalaman informasi penyadang disabilitas netra pada penggunaan audiobook sebagai sumber informasi. Tema pertama adalah tema motivasi yang menguraikan dorongan menggunakan audiobook untuk mendapatkan informasi sehingga dapat mengaktualisasikan diri. Tema kedua yaitu kesadaran yang dimaknai dengan kesadaran penyandang disabilitas netra untuk memilih sumber informasi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kemampuan yang dimilikinya. Tema ketiga adalah tema kendala akses, dimana setelah sumber informasi ditentukan oleh penyandang disabilitas netra, mereka akan berada ditahap menemukan kendala mulai dari penggunaan hingga terbatasnya sumber informasi tersebut. Tema terakhir adalah tema pengambilan tindakan yang mana adalah tahap terakhir yang dialami penyandang disabilitas netra, ditahap ini mereka akan menentukan tindakan yang dilakukan setelah mendapatkan informasi dari audiobook.

Information experience is a complex and multidimensional perspective that sees the relationship between human and information in the real world. The aim of the research is to understand the experience of person with visual impairment of Braillei’ant Indonesia community on the use of audiobooks as information source. The research methods used was qualitative method and the data was collected using semi-structured interviews and through observations. Informants were recruited through purposive sampling and four informants who were members of the Indonesian Braillei'ant community were participated. The collected data then analysed by implementing thematic analysis. The results show that four themes were found related to the information experience of people with visual impairment in using audiobooks as a source of information. The first theme is motivation, which describes the motivation of using audiobook to get information so they can actualize themself. The second theme is awareness, which is defined as the awareness of persons with visual impairment to choose information sources according to their needs and abilities. The third theme is the theme of access constraints, where after the source of information is determined by persons with visual impairment, they will be at the stage of finding obstacles ranging from use to limited sources of information. The final theme is the theme of determining actions, which is the last stage experienced by persons with visual impairment, at this stage they will determine the actions to take after obtaining information from the audiobook.
