Abstract

The city of Yogyakarta has a waste problem where there is an imbalance
between the amount of waste generated and waste management space.
Therefore, community-based waste management was appear in the form
of ”Garbage Bank” which expected to manage the inorganic waste at RW
level. The existence of the “Garbage Bank” is supported by the Mayor of
Yogyakarta program and also some policies of the Central and Regional
Governments. However, in reality there is no spatial system of waste
management of settlements which clear and integrated through "Garbage
Bank” in Yogyakarta City. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to
look at micro, mezo and macro scale and look for spatial system form of
community-based waste management system (Garbage Bank) which
integrated in Yogyakarta City. The methods of this research used a
qualitative approach with inductive thinking (bottom up), descriptive
analysis technique by mapping existing data. “Garbage Bank” has different
models according to the condition of the settlement area. A “Garbage
Bank” minimum needs a weighing space, administration space, packing
space and garbage storage that has been weighed. In the City Scale, it
needs a settlement waste management system through integrated Waste
Bank from start source (household) to Kota level.
