Abstract

The aim of the research is to explore the user’s perception of undergraduate students of the University of PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS) who have used the library website focusing on its information architecture. The research method used in this study is qualitative research using semi-structured interviews as data collection techniques. By employing accidental sampling, eight undergraduate recruited for this study. The data was then analyzed by employing Thematic Analysis; an analysis technique which was used to see the pattern of how Undergraduate students in UPGRIS perceptions of the library website. The results of the analysis discovered three themes related to the experience of users who have used website e-libraries.. First, the theme of layout management illustrates the opinions of users regarding the appearance of eLIBRARY websites. The eLIBRARY displays communicative elements of images and text images that are displayed providing information about the services and spaces available. The second theme, Website content, portrays the perception of users about the content of the information provided on the eLIBRARY website. Most of the students commented that the content provided is relevant and in accordance with the information needs of the user. Furthermore, the theme of accessibility or ease of access is an illustration of the ease of accessing the eLIBRARY website.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi persepsi pemustaka terhadap arsitektur informasi di dalam eLIBRARY Universitas PGRI Semarang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan wawancara semi-terstruktur sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Pengumpulan data ini melibatkan sebanyak 8 informan yaitu mahasiswa aktif Universitas PGRI Semarang yang sudah pernah mengakses eLIBRARY. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik Thematic Analysis. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tiga tema terkait dengan pengalaman pemustaka yang pernah menggunakan eLIBRARY. Tema pertama yaitu pengelolaan layout yang menggambarkan tentang pendapat pemustaka mengenai tampilan website eLIBRARY. eLIBRARY menampilkan elemen gambar dan teks yang komunikatif, gambar yang ditampilkan memberikan pesan dan kesan dan memberikan arti, yang mana pemustaka menjadi tahu bagaimana kondisi ruang layanan yang dimiliki perpustakaan. Pengorganisasian menu memudahkan pemustaka dalam menemukan informasi yang dibutuhkan. Tema kedua yaitu Content website yang memotret persepsi pemustaka tentang isi informasi yang disediakan di dalam website eLIBRARY. Content yang disediakan sudah relevan dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan informasi pemustaka. Yang ketiga, tema aksesibilitas atau kemudahan akses adalah gambaran tentang kemudahan pemustaka dalam mengakses eLIBRARY. Pemustaka mudah dalam mengakses dan menelusur informasi, ditunjang dengan navigasi atau petunjuk yang baik dalam website memudahkan pemustaka dalam mendapatkan informasi yang mereka cari.
