Abstract

Sebuah kota terdiri dari kawasan-kawasan yang terbentuk dari aspek non fisik dan fisik yang keduanya membentuk citra/image dari sebuah kawasan dan membedakan dengan kawasan lainnya. Citra/image dari sebuah kawasan dapat terlihat melalui koridor jalan utama dari kawasan tersebut yang salah satunya adalah melalui elemen-elemen fisik perwajahan bangunan pada deret sisi kanan dan kiri koridor. Begitu halnya dengan Kawasan Kota Lama Semarang, kawasan ini memiliki latar belakang sejarah jaman Kolonial Belanda dengan koridor jalan utama pada Jalan Letjen Suprapto. Seiring perkembangannya, perwajahan bangunan yang ada pada koridor ini mulai tidak terarah dilihat dengan munculnya bangunan modern dan bangunan yang tidak memiliki konteks Arsitektur Kolonial Belanda. Menuju Kawasan Kota Lama sebagai kawasan bertemakan City Walk, penelitian ini dirasa cukup penting untuk menjadi salah satu dasar kajian dalam perancangannya. Selain itu, pentingnya untuk menjaga karakter visual sebuah koridor khususnya melalui elemen-elemen fisik dari perwajahan bangunan juga perlu disadari oleh masyarakat dan terutama untuk Pemerintah Kota dalam hal ini sebagai pengambil kebijakan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, dimana peneliti merupakan bagian dari instrumen penelitian dengan menggunakan data primer berupa rekaman foto hasil survey serta hasil dari penggambaran ulang/redraw yang kemudian dianalisa menggunakan teori-teori terkait.
Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah menunjukan adanya elemen-elemen fisik dari perwajahan bangunan yang memiliki pengaruh terhadap pembentukan karakter visual koridor di Jalan Letjen Suprapto, yaitu pada elemen bentuk dasar bangunan, warna, ornamen melalui unsur dominasi; elemen bukaan melalui unsur irama; elemen tinggi bangunan, ruang terbuka melalui unsur garis langit; serta elemen warna, dan atap bangunan melalui unsur pemandangan berseri; serta adanya gradasi tingkat kekuatan dari pengaruh yang ditimbulkan oleh elemen-elemen fisik perwajahan bangunan tersebut. Adapun elemen-elemen lainnya yang tidak memiliki pengaruh kuat merupakan sebagai pendukung dari pembentukan karakter visual koridor Jalan Letjen Suprapto.

ABSTRACT
A city consists of areas formed from non physical and physical aspects that both form the image of an area and distinguish it from other regions. Image of a region can be seen through the main road corridor of the area which one of them is through the physical elements of the buildings in the right and left side of the corridor. So is the case with the Old Town of Semarang, this region has a historical background of the Dutch Colonial era with the main road corridor on Jalan Letjen Suprapto. Along with its development, the construction of existing buildings in this corridor began to not be directed by the emergence of modern buildings and buildings that don’t have the context of Dutch Colonial Architecture. Towards Old Town Area as a City Walk themed area, this research is considered important enough to be one of the basic studies in the design. In addition, the importance of maintaining the visual character of a corridor especially through the physical elements of the building face also needs to be realized by the community and especially for the Municipal Government in this case as a policy maker.
This research uses descriptive method, where the researcher is part of research instrument by using primary data in the form of photo recording of survey result and result of redraw which then analyzed using related theories.
The result of this research is show the existence of physical elements from building face which have influence to corridor visual character formation in Letjen Suprapto Street, that is in element of form, color, ornament through domination aspect; element of window through rhythm aspect; element of the high building, open space through the skyline aspect; as well as the color, and the roof of the building through the serial vision aspect; as well as the gradation of the strength level of the effects caused by the physical elements of the building's face. The other elements that do not have a strong influence is as a supporter of the formation of the visual character of the corridor of Letjen Suprapto Street.
