Abstract

The success of intensive cultivation of Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus var Sangkuriang) is highly dependent on the presence of feed. In aquaculture activities, feed is a component that requires high costs, almost 50-60% of production costs. This condition is probably due to feeding efficiency has not been maximized to support fish growth. One solution to overcome this problem is by supplementing Saccharomyces cerevisiae in commercial feed. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of S. cerevisiae supplementation on commercially made feed on protein digestibility, feed utilization efficiency, and growth of Sangkuriang catfish fry.
The treatments in this study were supplementation of S. cerevisiae on commercially made feed with different doses: 0%/kg feed (A), 0.5%/kg feed (B), 1%/kg feed (C), 1.5 %/kg feed (D) and 2 %/kg feed (E). Supplementation of S. cerevisiae in the commercial artificial feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on protein digestibility, feed utilization efficiency and growth, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the survival of Sangkuriang catfish fingerlings. The dose of S. cerevisiae 2%/kg of feed was the best dose for Sangkuriang catfish fingerlings producing the highest ADCp, EFU, and RGR values of 76.38%; 80.34%, and 4.03 g/day
Keberhasilan budidaya secara intensif lele Sangkuriang (Clarias gariepinus var Sangkuriang) sangat tergantung dari keberadaan pakan. Dalam kegiatan budidaya pakan merupakan komponen yang membutuhkan biaya tinggi hampir 50-60% dari biaya produksi. Kondisi tersebut kemungkinan dikarenakan efisiensi pakan belum maksimal untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ikan. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan suplementasi Saccharomyces cerevisiae dalam pakan komersil. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh suplementasi S. cerevisiae pada pakan buatan komersial terhadap keceernaan protein, efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan dan pertumbuhan benih lele Sangkuriang. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini adalah suplementasi S. cerevisiae pada pakan buatan komersial dengan dosis berbeda, yaitu 0 %/kg pakan (A), 0,5 %/kg pakan (B), 1 %/kg pakan (C), 1,5 %/kg pakan (D) dan 2 %/kg pakan (E). Suplementasi S. cerevisiae pada pakan buatan komersial berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap keceernaan protein, efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan dan pertumbuhan, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kelulushidupan benih lele Sangkuriang. Dosis S. cerevisiae 2 %/kg pakan merupakan dosis terbaik bagi benih lele Sangkuriang menghasilkan nilai ADCp, EFU, dan RGR tertinggi sebesar 76,38%; 80,34% dan 4,03 g/hari.
