Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of TikToK social media as an effort to
maintain the existence of the SMA Negeri 1 Boja library among generation Z
readers. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a case
study approach, using data collection methods namely observation, interviews
and documentation study. The results showed that the use of TikTok social media
by SMA Negeri 1 Boja was carried out starting from the initiation process,
preparation of procedures, and evaluation of responses from users. The initiation
of the use of TikTok social media by the Boja 1 Public High School Library was
carried out based on a joint decision between the Boja 1 SMA Public Library
administrators and the Boja 1 SMA Negeri 1 Boja Principal to get closer to the
librarian. In the use of TikTok social media, the SMA Negeri 1 Boja Library has
procedures consisting of planning TikTok social media content to monitoring and
evaluating the response to uploaded content. The use of TikTok social media
carried out by the SMA Negeri 1 Boja Library has received a good response from
the users who are generation Z in the form of views, likes, and comments, which
have even reached up to 208 views. Even so, the librarian of SMA Negeri 1 Boja
Library still experiences problems in using the TikTok social media account of the
SMA Negeri 1 Boja Library to maintain the existence of the SMA Negeri 1 Boja
Library regarding human resources who have the ability as content creators,
which results in the frequency and continuity of uploading content on the account.
