Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the characteristics of Indonesian Journal on
Geoscience scientific publications published in 2016-2020. The characteristics studied
are the trend of research topics based on the use of keywords, institutions that actively
contribute, the level of author productivity, and the number of article citations.
Quantitative research method is used and data were collected by using the
documentation study method through Scopus journal indexation site. This study
examines scientific publications in the type of research articles published in 2016-
2020 using Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer. Results show that the scientific
publications of the Indonesian Journal on Geoscience have various characteristics.
Scientific publications do not have specific research topic trends, but the frequency of
occurrence of the keywords hydrochemistry and Semarang is slightly higher with a
frequency of 3. Institutions that contributed the most, respectively, were Padjadjaran
University, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Bandung Institute of
Technology. Author's productivity level is in accordance with the theoretical value of
Lotka's law, M.F. Rosana and A. Sudradjat are the most productive authors with 5
research articles each. Most cited articles were found in the 2017 article written by L.
Handayani with a total of 9 citations or 2.25 citations per year.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis karakteristik
publikasi ilmiah Indonesian Journal on Geoscience tahun 2016-2020. Karakteristiknya
meliputi tren topik penelitian berdasarkan penggunaan kata kunci, institusi yang aktif
berkontribusi, tingkat produktivitas pengarang, dan jumlah kutipan artikel. Metode
penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif dan pengambilan data menggunakan
metode studi dokumentasi melalui situs indeksasi jurnal Scopus. Penelitian ini
mengkaji publikasi ilmiah berjenis artikel penelitian yang terbit tahun 2016-2020
menggunakan Microsoft Excel dan VOSviewer. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa publikasi
ilmiah Indonesian Journal on Geoscience memiliki karakteristik yang beragam.
Publikasi ilmiah tidak menunjukkan tren topik penelitian yang spesifik, namun
frekuensi kemunculan kata kunci hydrochemistry dan Semarang lebih tinggi dengan
jumlah 3. Institusi yang paling banyak berkontribusi secara berurutan yaitu Universitas
Padjadjaran, Kementerian ESDM, dan Institut Teknologi Bandung. Tingkat
produktivitas pengarang sesuai dengan nilai teoritis dalil Lotka, M.F. Rosana dan A.
Sudradjat merupakan pengarang paling produktif yang masing-masing berjumlah 5
artikel penelitian. Kutipan terbanyak ditemukan pada artikel tahun 2017 yang ditulis
oleh L. Handayani dengan jumlah 9 atau 2,25 kutipan per tahun
