Abstract

Compulsory reading is an activity held at the Library of the Khairul Rasyid Semarang Police Academy which utilizes all library facilities and is intended for cadets Police Academy. Compulsory reading is divided into 2, which are compulsory afternoon reading and compulsory night reading. This research was conducted to find out how effective the night reading must be to fulfill the information needs of cadets of the Police Academy. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study is cadets at level 4 of the Police Academy who will take the thesis, with a sample of 60 respondents taken using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis method used is descriptive statistical analysis, simple linear regression analysis and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between compulsory night reading (X) and information needs (Y) of 0.808. Based on the calculation of the t test (t-test) which shows that the value of t count > t table is 10.457 > 2001 which means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The results of hypothesis testing are done by comparing the results of the correlation coefficient significance <0.05. The significance of the correlation coefficient in this study was 0.00. With a significance result of 0.00 < 0.05, H0 is rejected as effective. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis of this study is accepted that there is a significant effect of compulsory night reading on meeting the information needs of cadets in the Library of Khairul Rasyid Semarang Police Academy.
