Abstract

This research discusses about "analysis of library materials censoring process in
the selection of fiction collections in the Library of SMP Negeri 21 Semarang".
The purpose of this research is want to know about how library materials
censoring process in the selection of fiction collections in the Library of SMP
Negeri 21 Semarang. The research design used in this research is qualitative
research with the descriptive type. Data collection method used are observation,
documentation and interview with informants determined by purposive sampling
method. The results of this research is based on the library material censoring
process, especially in the fiction collections in the Library of SMP Negeri 21
Semarang. The fiction collections censoring process is done through several
previous stages, there are the collections procurement, fiction collections
selection and then censoring to the fiction collections. The fiction collection
censorship in the Library of SMP Negeri 21 Semarang shows that the fiction
collections are less suitable for the school environment with the presence of
collections that have inappropriate pictures and sentences for the teenagers.

Skripsi ini membahas tentang “analisis proses sensor bahan pustaka pada seleksi
koleksi fiksi di Perpustakaan SMP Negeri 21 Semarang”. Tujuan penelitian ini
untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses sensor bahan pustaka pada seleksi koleksi
fiksi di Perpustakaan SMP Negeri 21 Semarang. Desain penelitian yang
digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif jenis dekskriptif.
Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dengan menggunakan observasi,
dokumetasi, dan wawancara dengan informan yang ditentukan dengan metode
purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian didasarkan pada proses sensor bahan pustaka
terutama di koleksi fiksi yang ada di Perpustakaan SMP Negeri 21 Semarang.
Proses sensor koleksi fiksi dilakukan tentunya melalui beberapa tahap sebelumnya
yaitu dengan pengadaan koleksi dan seleksi koleksi fiksi yang kemudian baru
dilakukan sensor terhadap koleksi fiksi. Sensor koleksi fiksi di Perpustakaan SMP
Negeri 21 Semarang menunjukkan bahwa koleksi fiksi yang ada kurang sesuai
untuk lingkungan sekolah dengan adanya koleksi-koleksi yang memiliki gambar
serta kalimat yang kurang pantas untuk usia remaja yang ada.
