Abstract

Library science is one of the study programs that has extensive job opportunities.
Information professional is one of the job opportunities for library scientists. This
research deals with the perception Library Science Diponegoro University students
about job opportunities for information professional. The purpose of this research is
to study the perception Library Science Diponegoro University students on information
professional job opportunities. The method used in this study is a quantitative method
using 84 respondents. The analysis in this study uses statistical descriptive analysis.
The results of this study indicate that affective aspect has the highest average value of
3.03 which is included in the good category. Furthermore, it was followed by the
cognitive aspect which has an average value of 2.93, and is categorized as good. The
lowest average value in the conative aspect is 2.89 in the good category. found in the
6th statement in the cognitive aspect of the chances of respondents get information
from acquaintances who worked as information professional, and the 7th statement in
the affective aspects of interest in information professional. Overall, the average value
means that every aspect is categorized as good, meaning that the perception of Library
Science, Diponegoro students about information professional job opportunities is
good

Ilmu perpustakaan merupakan salah satu program studi yang memiliki peluang kerja
yang luas. Information professional merupakan salah satu peluang kerja bagi lulusan
ilmu perpustakaan. Penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai persepsi mahasiswa
Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro pada peluang kerja
information professional. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi
mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro pada peluang
kerja information professional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode
penelitian kuantitatif dengan jumlah sampel 84 responden. Analisis dalam penelitian
ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif statistik. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan
bahwa aspek afeksi memiliki nilai mean tertinggi yaitu 3,03 yang masuk dalam
kategori baik. Selanjutnya diikuti oleh aspek kognisi yang memiliki nilai mean sebesar
2,93, dan masuk kategori baik. Nilai mean terendah terletak pada aspek konasi yaitu
sebesar 2,89 yang berada dalam kategori baik. Nilai mean terendah dari 22 item
pernyataan yaitu sebesar 2,24 yang terdapat pada pernyataan ke 6 dalam aspek kognisi
mengenai peluang responden mendapatkan informasi dari kenalan yang memiliki
profesi information professional, dan pernyataan ke 7 dalam aspek afeksi mengenai
ketertarikan pada information professional. Secara keseluruhan nilai mean setiap aspek
masuk ke dalam kategori baik, berarti persepsi mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu
Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro pada peluang kerja information professional
adalah baik.
