Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana perilaku informasi mahasiswa
Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro dalam mencari informasi mengenai
smartphone yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan
empat metode yaitu, wawancara semiterstruktur, observasi, studi literatur dan
dokumentasi. Informan di dalam penelitian ini didapatkan melalui purposive sampling.
Informan di dalam penelitian ini sebanyak sembilan orang dan merupakan mahasiswa
Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2018 dan 2019, penentuan
informan didasarkan pada kriteria yang telah ditentukan yaitu, (1) mahasiswa Ilmu
Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2018 dan 2019, (2) mahasiswa Ilmu
Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2018 dan 2019 yang tertarik dengan
perkembangan smartphone, baik untuk mencari referensi mengenai smartphone
terbaru maupun sekedar penasaran dengan perkembangan teknologi pada smartphone,
(3) mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Diponegoro angkatan 2018 dan 2019
yang telah mengambil mata kuliah Temu Balik Informasi serta Sumber dan Jasa
Informasi. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu, reduksi
data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa
dalam memenuhi smartphone yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan, mahasiswa
menyesuaikan kembali apa yang sedang dibutuhkan. Mahasiswa lebih memilih
menonton review smartphone di Youtube untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya
setelah itu mahasiswa membandingkan antara informasi yang didapat melalui video
review dengan informasi yang ada di website resmi agar terhindar dari informasi palsu.
Setelah semua informasi terpenuhi beberapa mahasiswa memilih untuk menyimpan
informasi tersebut untuk dijadikan referensi ketika mahasiswa ingin mengganti
smartphone lamanya dengan smartphone baru
This study aims to determine how the information behavior of Diponegoro University
Library Science students in finding information about smartphones that suit their
needs. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Data
were collected using four methods, namely, semi-structured interviews, observation,
literature study and documentation. Informants in this study were obtained through
purposive sampling. The informants in this study were nine people and were
Diponegoro University Library Science students class 2018 and 2019, the
determination of informants was based on predetermined criteria, namely, (1)
Diponegoro University Library Science students class 2018 and 2019, (2) University
Library Science students Diponegoro class 2018 and 2019 who are interested in the
development of smartphones, both to look for references about the latest smartphones
or just curious about technological developments on smartphones, (3) Diponegoro
University Library Science students class 2018 and 2019 who have taken the subject
of Information Gathering and Sources and Information Services. The data analysis
methods used in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion
drawing. The results of the study stated that in meeting smartphones that matched their
needs, students readjusted what was needed. Students prefer to watch smartphone
reviews on Youtube to meet their information needs, after which students compare the
information obtained through video reviews with information on the official website to
avoid false information. After all the information is met, some students choose to save
the information to be used as a reference when students want to replace their old
smartphone with a new smartphone.
