The coastal city of Semarang has great potential for mangrove forests to be developed. The purpose of this research is to examine the portrait of the condition of the mangrove ecosystem, the role of institutions and to develop a mangrove management strategy. The benefit of research is that it can be a source of reference for researchers, environmental activists, government and the community in solving mangrove problems in an integrated manner. This research was conducted in June-July 2021 in Tugu District, North Semarang and Genuk. The study used a qualitative descriptive method through interviews with communities, academics, government agencies, non-governmental organizations and Focus Group Discussions. The scope of this research is limited to identifying the causes of damage to mangrove areas from the social, economic, and biophysical aspects of the coast as well as mangrove conservation strategies. The results showed that the mangrove species were dominated by Rhizophora sp and Avicennia sp. In general, the condition of mangroves is in a damaged condition and has an effect on reducing pond productivity. Some of the mangrove forest rehabilitation programs are Mangrove for the Ocean, Coastal Clean Up, Let's Plant and Maintain 25 Trees for Life and KKMKS. Several strategies that can be applied for the rehabilitation and conservation of mangroves are structuring coastal border areas, empowering coastal communities and Wanamina. Conclusions and suggestions are that the mangroves on the coast of Semarang are in a good condition but there is a need for synergy from various parties as an effort to sustain mangrove conservation.
