Abstract
This research investigated the feminist values portrayed by Dorothea, Abbie, and
Julie and how its effect Jamie’s identity in 20th Century Women movie using
feminism theory. The purpose of the research was to explore Dorothea, Abbie, and
Julie’s feminist value. This research aims to explore the Dorothea’s struggle in her
relationship with Jamie, and how the women’s dynamic influence Jamie’s identity.
The feminist value portrayed by Dorothea, Abbie, and Julie and its effect toward
Jamie’s identity was analyzed using feminism theory. The result is Dorothea and
Abbie’s feminist value portrayed by their work field and Julie has a freedom as a
woman, and its effect Jamie to find his identity as a boy without any help from adult
man. The conclusion is the interaction between Dorothea, Abbie, Julie, and Jamie
shaped Jamie into a boy who has deeper understanding of women and shaped
Jamie’s masculine traits to be non-aggressive and non-dominant.
