Abstract

Prarancangan pabrik 1,3-butadiena berkapasitas 95.000 ton/tahun ini bertujuan memenuhi kebutuhan dalam negeri yang masih bergantung pada impor. Pabrik direncanakan berlokasi di Kawasan Industri Bontang, Kalimantan Timur, dengan memanfaatkan bahan baku n-butana dan proses Thermal–Catalytic Dehydrogenation (Houdry) menggunakan katalis chromia–alumina.

Proses produksi meliputi pemanasan n-butana, reaksi dalam reaktor fixed-bed multitube pada suhu 500–600°C dan tekanan 1 atm, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan tahap pendinginan, pemisahan, dan distilasi hingga diperoleh 1,3-butadiena berkadar 99,5%. Analisis pemilihan lokasi menunjukkan Bontang memiliki keunggulan dari sisi ketersediaan bahan baku, utilitas, infrastruktur, dan distribusi. Berdasarkan analisis teknis dan ekonomi, prarancangan pabrik ini dinilai layak untuk dikembangkan sebagai upaya mengurangi ketergantungan impor dan mendukung pengembangan industri petrokimia nasional.
