Abstract

In the late of 19th century Semarang-Juana stoomtram is one of the effective and
efficient means of public transport. Its ability to transport goods and passengers
in large quantities is the main attraction. At that time, Semarang-Juana
stoomtram even be the only means of transportation on the northern coast of
Central Java, which is very important for the transportation of passengers,
plantation products, and other commodities such as rice, salt, fish, cotton,
fertilizers, etc.
This article will reveal how the role of this means of transportation, both
in the transport of passengers and goods by the end of the 19 century.
