Abstract

Errica, Lestari. 2023. “Structure and Language Function in the Discourse of McDonald's Japan Advertisement on Social Media Twitter”. Thesis. Bachelor of Japanese Language and Culture Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. Supervisor Reny Wiyatarasi, S.S., M.Hum.
This study aims to explain the structure of advertisements and the function of language in advertisements uploaded by McDonald's Japan on McDonald's Japan's Twitter social media.
The data used in this study are advertisements collected using the listening method and continued with the note-taking technique. The data were then analyzed using the referential pairing method and the results were described using informal methods.
Based on the results of the research that has been done, it is concluded that in the sample of advertising data used, 48 data were found for the structure of the advertisement, consisting of 12 headlines, 8 illustrations, 8 body copy, 6 signature lines, and 14 standing details. There are also 33 data for language functions, consisting of 19 information functions, 2 expressive functions, 4 directive functions, and 8 phatic functions.
