Abstract

ABSTRAK

(Syafira Al Atika. 260 501 171 200 01.

ABSTRACT

(Syafira Al Atika. 26050117120001. Comparative Analysis of Shallow Water Mapping using “Log-Ratio” and “Analytic” Methods in the Waters of Kemujan, Karimunjawa. Muhammad Helmi dan Azis Rifai).

The ability to monitor coastal zone is evolving from time to time. This become an important factor for increasing knowledge in an effort to develop, plan, risk mitigate, and manage coastal zones. One of the effort is the development of bathymetric mapping using satellite imagery. Bathymetric mapping using satellite imagery, generally called Satellite-Derived Bathymetry has potentials to be an alternative method for bathymetric mapping in shallow waters because it is more efficient and more affordable than the sounding survey method. This study has the objective of comparing the accuracy between log-ratio method and analytic method to derive bathyemtry and to use method with better level of accuracy to map the contours of the depth of the waters of Kemujan Island, Karimunjawa Islands. Preprocessing steps include glint correction, and atmospheric correction. The next step is to apply log ratio and analytic algorithm to derive bathymetry. Accuracy assessment used here are coeeficient determination, RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), and MAE (Mean Absolute Error). Accuracy assessment is done to compare the suitability of the models to Kemujan Waters. The research findings indicate that both methods show high coefficient of determination values, specifically 0.9846 for the log ratio method and 0.8768 for the analytic method. The Mean Absolute Error (MAE) for the log ratio method is 0.5764, while for the analytic method, it is 1.003. Additionally, the Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) for the log ratio method is 1.167, whereas for the analytic method, it is 1.873. Based on the accuracy tests, it can be concluded that the log ratio method exhibits better accuracy compared to the analytic method. In this study, the log ratio method was utilized to map the contours of shallow water depths in the waters around Kemujan, Karimunjawa.
