Abstract

Ikan mas merupakan primadona air tawar yang banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat. Permasalahan pada pembenihan ikan adalah tingkat kelangsungan hidup yang rendah dan pertumbuhan yang relatif lambat. Pertumbuhan yang lambat salah satunya disebabkan oleh penyerapan nutrisi pakan yang belum optimal. Sifat diurnal (aktif di siang hari) yang dimiliki ikan mas dimanfaatkan untuk mengatur periode gelap-terang sehingga benih ikan dapat memanfaatkan pakan secara optimal untuk pertumbuhan. Penelitian dilakukan selama 40 hari di Balai Benih Ikan Tarantang Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Ikan yang digunakan sebanyak 60 ekor. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan terang (T) dan gelap (G) yaitu A (12T dan 12G), B (16T dan 8G), C (20T dan 4G), dan D (24T). Data yang diamati meliputi bobot dan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR), rasio konversi pakan (FCR), dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup (SR). Hasil penelitian terbaik pada perlakuan C dengan rerata bobot mutlak 11,78±0,10 g, panjang mutlak 3,84±0,05 cm, SGR 1,47±0,01% dan FCR 1,39±0,01. Tingkat kelulushidupan (SR) pada semua perlakuan sebesar 100%. Kualitas air suhu 24-26oC, DO 6-7,7 mg/L, dan pH 6-7. Periode gelap-terang berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap bobot mutlak, panjang mutlak, SGR, dan FCR.

Carps is the prima donna of fresh water which is consumed by many people. The problem with fish hatcheries is the low survival rate and relatively slow growth. One of the causes of slow growth is the absorption of feed nutrients that is not optimal. The diurnal (active during the day) nature of carps is used to regulate light-dark periods so that fish seeds can optimally utilize feed for growth. The research was conducted for 40 days at the Tarantang Fish Seed Center, Fifty Cities District. Fish used as many as 60 heads. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The treatments used were light (T) and dark (G), namely A (12T and 12G), B (16T and 8G), C (20T and 4G), and D (24T). The data observed included absolute weight and length, specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and survival rate (SR). The best research results were in treatment C with an average absolute weight of 11.78 ± 0.10 g, absolute length of 3.84 ± 0.05 cm, SGR 1.47 ± 0.01% and FCR 1.39 ± 0.01. The survival rate (SR) in all treatments was 100%. Water quality temperature 24- 26oC, DO 6-7.7 mg/L, and pH 6-7. The light-dark period had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on absolute weight, absolute length, SGR and FCR.
