Abstract

ABSTRAK
(Hafidza Mahira. 26040119140165. Interaksi Antara Karang dengan Spons di Perairan Pantai Samuh, Nusa Dua, Bali. Dwi Haryanti dan Diah Permata Wijayanti).

Pantai Samuh terletak di Kawasan Pariwisata Nusa Dua, Kecamatan Kuta Selatan, Kab. Badung, Provinsi Bali.

ABSTRACT

(Hafidza Mahira. 26040119140165. Interaction Between Coral with Spons in Samuh Beach Waters, Nusa Dua, Bali. Dwi Haryanti and Diah Permata Wijayanti).

Samuh Beach is located in the Nusa Dua Tourism Area, South Kuta District, Kab. Badung, Province of Bali. Samuh Beach has a coral reef ecosystem and is one of the areas in Bali that was affected by coral bleaching in 2016. Currently Samuh Beach is one of the coral reef ecosystem rehabilitation locations in Bali. The survey was conducted because until now there has never been any research on Coral Killing Sponges on Samuh Beach, Bali. Data collection was carried out using the time swim method which has been modified into a SCUBA dive for 45-60 minutes with an observation distance of 100 meters parallel to the shoreline. Sponges suspected of being coral killers are documented and identified. There were 3 samples taken from Samuh Beach Waters from 3 repetition points with a depth of 10 meters. Observation of spicules for identification was carried out by dissolving the sponge pieces with commercial sodium hypochlorite (Bayclin) (5.25% concentration). The results of observations in the field show that the interactions that occur between sponges and corals are invasive because there is competition for growing areas which consist of 3 categories including; Disintegrated Tissues; Thick Tissue Threads; and Intact. Observation of spicules in the laboratory showed that those found were Tylostyle, Oxea, and Acanthoxea. There are three types of coral killer sponges identified in Samuh Beach, Nusa Dua, Bali, namely: Halichondia coerulea with white color, encrusting growth form and spicules of Oxea type; Mycale sp., which is green in color, forms encrusting growth and spicules with Oxea and exotyle types. While one sample with encrusting and yellow growth has not been identified yet. The number of sponges found on live coral substrates can become a new threat to corals. Therefore, it is necessary to clean up so that the corals do not lose in the competition for space.
