Ikan platy pedang (X. helleri) cukup populer dan memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi terutama pada ikan jantan. Ikan platy pedang jantan memiliki bentuk yang lebih menarik dibangdingkan ikan platy pedang betina. Metode yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan anakan jantan yaitu dengan maskulinisasi. Salah satu bahan yang mengandung flavonoid berupa Chrysin untuk maskulinisasi adalah madu. Chrysin berfungsi sebagai aromatase inhibitor. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengkaji pengaruh lama waktu perendaman yang berbeda dan lama waktu perendaman yang terbaik dengan madu pada maskulinisasi ikan platy pedang.
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2023 hingga bulan April 2023, di Teaching Factory FPIK Undip Tembalang, Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Ikan platy pedang yang digunakan sebagai hewan uji adalah jenis mata merah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 3 pengulangan. Perlakuan yang dilakukan yaitu perendaman dengan madu selama A (0jam), B (12jam), C (24jam), D (36jam). Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap persentase ikan jantan, survival rate,serta kualitas air.
Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan nilai persentase ikan jantan pada perlakuan A (22,29±11,72 %), B (36,59±5,21%), C (59,51±3,73%), dan D (86,55±4,20%). Hasil dari nilai survival rate yaitu pada perlakuan A (92,98±6,08%), B (96,37±3,17% ), C (94,58±5,05%), dan D (94,41± 4,90%). Kualitas air yang didapat yaitu DO 3,1-4,5 mg/L, suhu 23,6-28,3oC, dan pH 7,8- 8,2. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan yaitu lama perendaman induk betina bunting menggunakan madu 3 mg/L berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,05) terhadap persentase ikan jantan. Perlakuan dengan persentase jantan tertinggi adalah perlakuan D (36jam) yaitu 86,55±4,20%.

Swordtail fish (X. helleri) is quite popular and has high economic value, especially for male fish. Male swordtail fish have a more attractive appearance compared to female swordtail fish. One method that can be used to increase the number of male offspring is masculinization. Honey, which contains the flavonoid Chrysin, can be used for masculinization. Chrysin also known as an aromatase inhibitor. The objective of this study was to examine the influence of different soaking durations and determine the optimal soaking duration using honey for the masculinization of swordtail fish.
The study was conducted from February 2023 to April 2023 at Teaching Factory FPIK Undip Tembalang, Semarang, Central Java. The swordtail fish used as test animals were of the red-eye variety. The research employed an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments involved soaking the fish in honey for different durations: A (0 hours), B (12 hours), C (24 hours), and D (36 hours). Observations were made on the percentage of male fish, survival rate, and water quality.
The results of the study showed that the percentage of male fish increased with longer soaking durations in honey. Treatment D (36 hours) yielded the highest percentage of male fish at 86.55±4.20%. The survival rate of the fish was also high for all treatments, with percentages above 90%. The measured water quality parameters were dissolved oxygen (DO) of 3.1-4.5 mg/L, temperature of 23.6-28.3°C, and pH of 7.8-8.2. In conclusion, the soaking duration of pregnant female swordtail fish using honey at 5 ml/L had a significant (P<0.05) effect on the percentage of male fish. Treatment D (36 hours) resulted in the highest percentage of male fish. keywords: honey, masculinization, Xiphophorus helleri, soaking.
