Abstract

domestica) dengan Konsentrasi yang Berbeda Terhadap Perkembangan Embrio
Daya Tetas Telur Ikan Tawes (P. javanicus) (Tristiana Yuniarti dan Ristiawan
Agung Nugroho)
Ikan tawes (P. javanicus) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang
permintaannya terus mengalami peningkatan. Akan tetapi, produksi ikan tawes (P.
javanicus) cenderung rendah karena daya tetas telur hanya mencapai 22%.
Rendahnya daya tetas tersebut dapat disebabkan oleh serangan jamur Saprolegnia
sp. saat proses penetasan. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi hal tersebut adalah
penggunaan bahan alami. Kunyit (C. domestica) menjadi bahan alami yang
mengandung kurkuminoid dan minyak atsiri yang berguna untuk melawan serangan
jamur sehingga daya tetas telur ikan tawes (P. javanicus) dapat meningkat. Tujuan
dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan konsentrasi terbaik
pemberian ekstrak kunyit (C. domestica) dalam media penetasan telur ikan tawes
(P. javanicus). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan
Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 3 pengulangan.
Media penetasan ditambahkan ekstrak kunyit (C. domestica) dengan konsentrasi A
(0 ml/l), B (1 ml/l), C (2 ml/l), dan D (3 ml/l), kemudian telur sebanyak 200 butir
setiap ulangan direndam di dalamnya selama 20 menit. Data yang diamati adalah
fase perkembangan telur, lama waktu penetasan telur, daya tetas telur (HR),
kelulushidupan (SR), dan kualitas air. Hasil nilai daya tetas telur (HR) secara
berturut-turut dari perlakuan A sampai dengan D yaitu 79,50±1,32%, 89,50±1,80%,
91,00±3,00%, 89,83±1,89%. Perlakuan A menghasilkan daya tetas telur terendah,
sedangkan perlakuan B, C, dan D menunjukkan nilai yang tidak berbeda nyata.
Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kunyit (C. domestica)
berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap daya tetas telur ikan tawes (P. javanicus) dan
konsentrasi ekstrak yang direkomendasikan adalah 2 ml/l.

of Turmeric (C. domestica) Extract on Hatching Rate of Silver Barb (P. javanicus)

Silver barb (P. javanicus) is one of the fishery commodities that constantly
grows in demand. However, the production tends to be low because of the
hatchability only reaches 22%. The low of hatchability is probably caused by
fungal attacks during hatching. One of the efforts to overcome that problem is using
natural ingredients. Turmeric (C. domestica) is a natural ingredient that contains
curcuminoids and essential oil and both active compounds have an antifungal
function that is useful to prevent fungal attacks, in order that the hatching rate
increases. This study aimed to determine the effect and the best concentration of
turmeric (C. domestica) extract that used in the hatching media of silver barb (P.
javanicus). This study used an experimental method with Completely Randomized
Design (CRD) that consisted of 4 treatments and 3 repititions. The hatching media
was added by turmeric (C. domestica) extract with some diffrerent concentrations
were A (0 ml/l), B (1 ml/l), C (2 ml/l), and D (3 ml/l) then 200 eggs for each
treatment were collected into it for about 20 minutes. The observed data were
embryogenesis, hatching time, hatching rate (HR), survival rate (SR), and water
quality. The result of hatching rate successively from treatment A to D were
79,50±1,32%, 89,50±1,80%, 91,00±3,00%, and 89,83±1,89%. Treatment A had
the lowest result, whereas treatment B, C, and D did not reveal any significance.
Thus, it could be concluded that the addition of turmeric (C. domestica) extract to
the hatching media had a significant effect (P <0.05) on the hatching rate (HR) of
silver barb (P.javanicus) and 2 ml/l is recommended to be used im the hatching
process.
