Abstract

ABSTRACT

Rahmawati, Gishella G, "Self-efficacy of Masaki Tachibana's Barakamon Anime
(Literary Psychology Review)". Thesis. Department of Japanese Language and
Culture Studies, Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University lecturer.
Supervisor Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd., M.Hum.
Barakamon tells about the efforts of the Handa character to get a change in
Handa's self-efficacy from having low self-efficacy to high self-efficacy. The
purpose of this study is to explain the narrative elements that build the Barakamon

anime which includes narrative elements with space, narrative with time and three-
act structure, explain the causes and forms of self-efficacy experienced by Handa

Seishuu from the Barakamon anime by Masaki Tachibana. The theory used in this
study is the theory of Movie Understanding by Himawan Pratista to analyze the
narrative elements contained in this anime. The second theory used in this study is
the social cognitive theory of self-efficacy proposed by Albert Bandura. After
research, it was found that the form of self-efficacy can change, develop or decrease.
With effort, Handa can have high self-efficacy. The main cause that is particularly
dominant with Handa's change in self-efficacy is the social persuasion that Yasu's
grandmother gives to Handa. After social persuasion, Handa grew into a better
human being.
