Abstract

Harhera, Melin, 2023. “PROBLEMATIC ANALYSIS OF FOOD WASTE
IN TOKYO PREFECTURE JAPAN”, Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture,
Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor Arsi Widiandari, S.S., M.Si.
The purpose of this study is to analyze how the problem of food waste in
Japan, especially in Tokyo Prefecture. The analysis will reveal what factors affect
the level of food waste in Japan, especially in Tokyo Prefecture. This research is a
qualitative descriptive research that uses the literature study method. The theory
used to analyze the problems in this study is the theory of biocentrism which is an
environmental theory.
This research analyzes the problem of food waste or food waste generated
in Japan, especially in Tokyo. The food waste includes beverage waste that is
discarded due to certain factors such as approaching the expiration date, leftover
food that is not finished, overpeeling, damage to the product due to human error,
and weather factors. Food waste in Japan and Tokyo is generally divided into two,
namely food waste in the household sector and the business sector. The Japanese
government and the Tokyo government continue to strive to reduce food waste
together with the public with certain measures to achieve the set targets in reducing
food waste in Japan and Tokyo.
