Abstract
This research was made due to low interest in reading English among third-grade
students at SD IT Al Firdaus. Low interest in reading English can happen because of
the lack of kinds of learning media used in learning. Students also have the
understanding that English is a difficult language to learn. Therefore, the aim of this
research is to design a new learning media which is expected to become a new English
learning media for the third-grade students at SD IT Al Firdaus. The research type used
in this is research and development (R&D). Moreover, this research and development
use the ADDIE Model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation, and Evaluation. Therefore, this product has been assessed through a
validation test by two experts, an expert lecturer from the Applied Foreign Language
study program, Universitas Diponegoro with the conclusion, the storybook is feasible
to be used as a learning media for third-grade in SD IT Al Firdaus but with revisions
according to the suggestions. Meanwhile, a validation test result from the English
teacher at SD IT Al Firdaus, it can be concluded that the picture storybook is feasible
as a learning media without a revision. Therefore, the result of this study is a picture
storybook with the material of a special food from several countries in the world
entitled, “Chan-Chan the Food Lover”.
