This study examines the form of parenting applied by the main character,
namely Gataro to his daughter Sakura in the drama Oyabaka Seishun Hakusho.
Parenting patterns greatly affect the growth and development of a child. Parents
have a big role in guiding their children according to the parenting style they use.
This study uses a material object in the form of the television drama Oyabaka Seishun
Hakusho which consists of 7 (seven) episodes, and the formal object is parenting.
This study aims to reveal the form of parenting applied by the character Gataro in
the drama Oyabaka Seishun Hakusho by Ichiro Anabuki. This research is included
in the type of literature study research. The method used in this research is the
method of literary psychology. This study uses two supporting theories, namely the
theory of narrative structure by Himawan Pratista and the theory of parenting by
Elizabeth B. Hurlock.
This study describes the narrative structure in the form of the main elements
of the narrative, the three-act structure, the narrative relationship with space, and
the narrative relationship with time. Furthermore, this study describes the form of
parenting applied by Gataro figures in the form of authoritarian parenting,
permissive parenting, and democratic parenting. Based on the results of the research
that has been done, it shows that the dominant figure of Gataro applies a democratic
form of parenting compared to other forms of parenting.
