ABSTRAK
(Izza Siti Nurhuda. 26010118120023. Sebaran Mikroplastik pada Ekosistem
Terumbu Karang di Pulau Panjang Jepara. Pujiono Wahyu Purnomo dan Diah
Ayuningrum).
pembuangan sampah termasuk plastik. Plastik tersebut terdegradasi dalam waktu
lama menjadi mikroplastik.

ABSTRACT
(Izza Siti Nurhuda. 26010118120023. Distribution of Microplastics in Coral Reef
Ecosystems on Panjang Island Jepara. Pujiono Wahyu Purnomo and Diah
Ayuningrum).
The coral reef ecosystem on Jepara Panjang Island is one of the attractions for
tourists, both local and long-distance. The activities of visitors who come to this
island affect the condition of the existing coral reefs due to increased waste disposa l
including plastic. The plastic degrades over a long time to become microplastic. The
presence of microplastics in coral reef ecosystems can affect coral reef cover. The
purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of coral cover on Jepara's
Panjang Island and to find out the types of microplastics in the coral reef ecosystem
on Jepara's Panjang Island. The research method refers to a survey study by studying
coral reefs using the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method which was carried
out in the northern and southern parts of Panjang Island, Jepara with two
repetitions. Research on the abundance of microplastics was carried out by taking
coral samples, water samples and sediment samples. The samples obtained were
extracted by microplastics, then analyzed by microplastics using a microscope,
identified microplastics and analyzed the data obtained. The results showed that the
condition of the corals on the Pulau Panjang reef flat was in the bad category,
especially in the north, respectively at 19.87% and 18.54%. While in the south it was
38.67% and 38.80% respectively. The types of coral growth forms in both locations
are the same type of Acropora Submassive, Coral Massive, and Acropora Branching.
The types of microplastics found in water and sediments are fibers, fragments and
films. The highest abundance of microplastics was found in corals with 1.35 items/gr
and the lowest with 0.42 items/gr. The highest abundance of microplastics was in
water with 0.35 item/mL and the lowest with 0.05 item/mL. The highest abundance of
microplastics was in sediments with 0.38 items/gr and the lowest with 0.17 items/gr.
