Abstract
Ginger grater machine is one of the machine products resulting from technology that
functions as a tool for grating ginger with the aim of becoming dregs and squeezing ginger
into ginger essence. Currently, the process of grating and squeezing ginger is carried out
with separate machines, namely a grater machine for grating ginger and a squeezing
machine for squeezing ginger so that it is not effective and efficient. Therefore, in this final
project the author will design a machine for grating and squeezing ginger into a single
unit with a capacity of 30 kg/hour.
The design process for this ginger grater and squeezer machine includes the following
stages: literature study and field study, design making, calculation and planning of its
parts, fabrication process and tool testing.
From the results of the design that has been carried out, the machine design produces a
ginger grater machine with specifications of length 75 cm, width 40 cm, height 110 cm.
The grating process is carried out by 2 drums with grated edges rotating in opposite
directions, while the squeezing is carried out using a screwpress model. The power
required is 2.62 HP, while the motor used is a gasoline motor with 5.5 HP. The
transmission uses belts and pulleys with diameters of 100 mm (grater), 80 mm (squeezer),
and 80 mm (petrol engine). Meanwhile, to reduce the rotation of the screwpress using a
reducer with a ratio of 1:30. From the tests carried out, the planned capacity is reached at
1300 rpm of the gasoline motor.
