Abstract

One of the biggest challenges in today's social life is the lack of pro-enviromental behavior by the community that can contribute to the environmental problems. This study aims to determine the relationships between environmental self-efficacy and social norms with pro-environmental behavior on PKK administrator. The population of this research involves 551 PKK administrators in Batang Regency who completed their high school. Participants of this study were 221 (M age = 43.59; SD age = 8.46) who were selected using a proportionate random sampling technique. Data were collected using the translated versions of the Pro-Environemntal Behavior Scale (14 items; α = .922), the Environmental Self-Efficacy Scale (ESE) (20 items; α = .968), and the Social-Norm Espousal Scale (SNES) (14 items; α=810). This research employs quantitatvie method in which multiple regression analysis depicted that the hypothesis of this study can be accepted with a significance value of 0.000 which means less than 0.05 meaning that there is a relationship between environmental self-efficacy and social norms with pro-environmental behavior. Based on R2 test, there was a significant positive relationship between social norms with pro-enviromental behavior. However, environmental self-efficacy was not significantly correlated with pro-enviromental behavior so that hyphotesis in this study is accepted. Social norm contributed 93.8% to pro-environmental behavior and the rest is influenced by variables outside of this study. Pro-enviromental behavior implemented by PKK members has an important role in the process of intergenerational tranfer especaially to tehir family members.
