Abstract

ABSTRACT
Leopard, Niketas. 2022. "Elements of Japanese Culture in Karakai Jōzu No Takagisan Anime by Sōichirō Yamamoto". Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture Study
Program, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor Fajria Noviana S.S., M.Hum.
This study analyzes the elements of Japanese culture represented in the
Karakai Jōzu No Takagi-san anime by Sōichirō Yamamoto. The primary purpose
of this research is to analyze the narrative elements and the elements of Japanese
culture in the Karakai Jōzu No Takagi-San anime. This qualitative research uses
the literary sociology method to analyze narrative elements using Himawan
Pratista's theory and cultural elements using Koentjaraningrat's theory, which will
be presented descriptively and qualitatively. In analyzing the elements of Japanese
culture in the Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san anime, all of the seven elements of
culture from Koentjaraningrat's theory can be found. The seven elements include
language, knowledge system, social organization, technological system, livelihood
system, religious system, and art. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be said
that the anime Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san can accurately represent Japanese
culture from how to speak to others, how to operate tools, various types of food and
how to eat them, to traditional events carried out by Japanese people. The results
of this analysis can also be a proof that Koentjaraningrat's theory of cultural
elements is a universal theory.
