Abstract

Bukit Semarang Baru Housing Development Area (BSB City) is a new city area that is developing by facilitating its environment with comfortable housing. Located in a hilly area in Mijen, Semarang City. A residential development area designed by arranging its residential environment with many green areas such as parks, playgrounds and recreation areas. The surrounding area is part of urban design and aspects/dimensions in it. Open space used by general public consisting of children to elderly has the potential to be an inclusive place. So with this understanding, BSB Lake area is an inclusive open space. With the initial observations that have been made that general public has not maximized use of open space facilities provided by housing developers. Some facilities in the Lake BSB area are not physically accessible to all visitors. Seeing these problems, purpose of this research is to identify and analyze public open space facilities of Lake BSB as a place of recreation that accommodates inclusive concepts in terms of morphological, social and functional aspects with a universal design principle approach. This study uses a qualitative approach that is described in a narrative, data collection by in-depth interviews, direct observation and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the Lake BSB area has potential for facility design in terms of morphological, social and functional aspects. From the facilities available in the Lake BSB recreation area, that all facilities are intended for all visitors without exception. However, there are several facilities that do not meet the inclusive concept from analysis of universal design principles, namely entrance area and jogging area. Facilities that do not meet this inclusive concept are facilities that are not accessible to children and visitors with disabilities.
