Abstract

ABSTRACT

Azzahrani. Rakhma Nur. 2022. "Analysis of Ellipsis in Online Talk Video Conversations on Yukirin World YouTube Channel". Thesis, Study Program of Japanese Language and Culture, Diponegoro University Semarang. Supervisor Elizabeth Ika Hesti Aprilia Nindia Rini, S.S., M.Hum.
This research examines ellipsis as the main theme. Ellipsis is commonly used and considered effective in Japanese conversation, but can lead to ambiguity. The object that used as data is an online talk video named (Ganso Akushukai Joou) Ohanashikai No Kami Taiou which uploaded on the YouTube channel Yukirin World. This research aims to describe the types of ellipsis and the use of the general rules of ellipsis done by Kashiwagi Yuki AKB48 and her fans in the data source. In order to do this research, Dedi Sutedi's Japanese sentence theory and Seichii Makino and Michio Tsutsui's ellipsis theory are used. The listening method, distributional method, and direct element division technique are also used.
This research describes the types of ellipsis by analyzing the sentence structure in the data based on part of speech and syntactic function, then finding the omitted element. Furthermore, this research also describes how the general rules of ellipsis are applied in daily life by conforming the data to theory. Based on the results of the research, it is found that there are various types of ellipsis that exist and don’t exist in theory. In addition, it is also found that the use of ellipsis tends to be free because it is not limited to general rules.
