Abstract

Development Bener Dam agenda that took place in Purworejo Regency is a National
Government Strategic Project that was initiated in 2016. The land in Wadas Village with abundant
natural resources will turn into a mining agenda to supply the Bener Dam material. This study focuses
on how the form of resistance carried out by the Wadas Village Natural Care Community Movement
through digital activism. In addition, it analyzes the factors that influence and hinder the digital activism
movement.
In this study, Bert Klandermans' theory of Social Movements is used in his invalidated book,
Protest in the Study of Social Psychology (2005). According to him, social movements or collective
action can occur because of a form of injustice, a feeling of identity between the community and the
presence of agency. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. This data
collection technique was carried out by in-depth interviews, document studies and literature studies.
The results of this study indicate that the trigger for the conflict that occurred was the
conversion of the Wadas community's land into a mining area. In addition, the transparency and
communication of this mining activity will minimally socialize and involve the community as a whole,
where this is related to the impact caused by the social, economic and political conditions in the Wadas
Village area. Therefore, this condition led to resistance from the Wadas Village community by forming
the Wadas Village Natural Care Community Movement group. They do this on social media Instagram
and Twitter by creating an accountWadas Fight and fight directly.
The conclusion of this study shows that the Wadas Village Community Cares for Nature
Movement group resisted using social media, through resistance on social media the Earthquake Dewa
group succeeded in influencing public opinion. This account is used as a form of resistance carried out
by the Earthquake Dewa group. As a medium that is able to build public opinion and become a
consolidation tool to build resistance networks with activists. With the number of accounts that are
followed by many people, the Wadas-again account can significantly influence public opinion, this can
be seen after the conflict on April 23, 2021 and February 8, 2022, when mining activities stopped in the
Wadas Village area, In addition, the movement carried out by the Earthquake Dewa group through the
Wadas account against significantly can be able to form a force that influences government policies. On
social media, this inhibition of the resistance movement occurs due to systematic efforts made by
irresponsible people on the basis of their interests being disturbed, they are making efforts to intimidate
digital threats and repression against activists who support the struggle of the Earthquake Dewa group.
